Cardio is good for your heart & lungs' date=' but building your muscles is good for your metabolism and staves off the sagging extra skin bc it fills it with muscle. It's also good for your bones.

My surgeon said something interesting to me last month when I told him that I was having a hard time getting in my Calcium. He said right now it isn't a big deal bc I have my excess weight stressing my bones and keeping them strong, but as the weight comes off the calcium is especially important unless I stress my bones through resistance training.

Despite being morbidly obese, I was very active, just not consistently. :)

Thanks Eclipse for the info. Good to know cuz I'm having a hard time with my calcium as well. I think mostly because I am not suppose to take it with my Multivitamin.< /p>

Ok to all of us who are "upping calories" to get out of stalls... We really have to remember how we got here. I don't know how many days your suppose to keep up the higher calorie intake but I'm sure it's no more than a few days??? That should work through the stall. Anyone have any info on this?

My nut says 1 day should be enough. Make the next day lower than usual.

Thanks Ashelaine! Interesting, I would have thought our bodies would need more than one day.

If your working out, you have to increase your calories because your using more energy. But first and foremost make sure you eat your Protein first. And do not go back to the unhealthy foods that got you here. Try not to graze but if your hungry always do protein or healthy snaks like fruit, yogurt etc...

Stalls happen to us all...I miss the days when a stall was a week or even a month. I am now 17 months out and I was in a stall for 3 months the last time. Just stick with it. You might want to consider upping your calorie intake so that your body knows its not starving. Good luck...you will get there!

You are so right, when I upped my calories I noticed I started loosing. This is definitely the key especially when your working out

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
