Anyone Having This Problem?!?

Recommended Posts

I am a little over 3 months post op. I have lost more inches than weight which is great! I am experiencing some issues though. I can't seem to control my calories. I keep in mind that I want high Protein and low carbs/fat. I don't usually concern myself with a caloric number, but here is my pattern: for a week I will average anywhere from 500-709 calories then I will go a week or so that I can't eat more than 150-250 calories a day! I can't get any nutrition or food in and if I do try to eat little bits at a time, I throw up within 10 minutes of eating! It is unnerving bc those weeks I don't lose weight and last week I gained! I'm struggling. The weight is coming off and so are the inches, but I literally can't eat some weeks! Anyone else having issues?

DOS: 8/28/12- 276. Lbs

Last weigh in (last week) 231 and down 47 inches total... There are my stats!

Yes...I share the same issues...i was sleeved on 8-17-12...have lost 56# and many inches...to maintain the weight loss i have not been counting calories but increasing my fluids....when i eat too fast i phlegm up...so i would say we are blessed with little sleeves and keep learning how to care for them...some days u can eat and some i get reminded real quick to stick with fluids...soups etc.

Take care

Yes I have that issue too. My doc says it will get better. Hang in there. I'm 12 weeks out

I am 7 weeks out and I have the eating issues, same as you. I don't weight myself but every 2 weeks, so I don't know if the weight is fluctuating. I make sure I drink the Protein shakes when I am not doing solids.

I am losing slowly, but the inches are really coming off. I went from a 3X blouse to a XL. I don't even know my pants size; I hang out in yoga pants and they are getting loose.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
