My surgery is in six days. All of my pre-op visits are tomorrow morning. And all of a sudden, it just hit me. This is the craziest thing I've ever done to myself! Although it is to better improve my health, this is still an elective surgery... Has anyone else just all of a sudden been hit with the realization of how huge this decision is? I'm not saying I'm having any second thoughts, because I am not. In fact I'm more excited than I think I've ever been in my whole life. I am just saying, wow. It just hit me, I'm having a life-changing surgery in six days! Craaaaazy!!!

It has hit me at times but I don't think it really has hit me yet! It is a crazy good thing we have decided to do for ourselves! I know most of us are givers so this is a big step to do something for ourselves! :-) good luck!

your nerves are acting up, totally normal and understandable - this is a big deal - you will be starting a new life

journey into sleeveland - where "most" people are created = - and are on the successful road to health, happiness

"elective" surgery - this is HUGE - cutting your tummy up this is major surgery if i ever heard

unfortunately, it isn't treated that way by many

many insurance companies still don't cover - and many many "normal" people still don't understand the importance behind the WLS (health benefits et al) the story, "taking the easy way out" vanity reasons losing the weight

glad you are not having 2nd thoughts, more and more excited as time goes by :)

good for you

congrats

12/8/2012

6 days to WLS - count down :)

happy surgery

speedy recovery

:)

Yes it is a bit crazy but most of all brave. I'm 9 mos out 90 lbs lighter and sometimes it still hits me and I can't believe I I actually made the decision, had the surgery and have lost so much weight.

I did have a moment of nerves and second thoughts before surgery. On my first scheduled date there was a huge emergency and since my surgery was elective i was bumped off the surgery schedule after waiting an entire

Day with out eating or drinking to go into surgery. It was nerve racking and made me doubt whether I was making the right choice, but I was rescheduled for the following week, placed as the first surgery for the day and that was that. Hardest but best choice of my life!

My surgery is tomorrow and its definitely becoming very real! No second thoughts, but just deep breaths when i think of how big a decision this is. I'm very excited about the future, and happy to be making this change, but that doesn't eliminate all of the fear going into this. Everyone else's success stories really help though. I agree....Craaazy!

Hey there,

My surgery is this Monday December 10 and I completely understand what you are feeling. I'm excited and can't wait to get it done, but I'm also just starting to feel the enormity of what is about to happen.

Good luck & best wishes :)

I'm the 10th as well and I think it really just sank in what I'm doing. I know it's good thing as I have a lot of issues just starting bc of my weight. I've been pretty lucky thus far having no comorbidities. And I'm just so ready to be done with this weight battle.

Lots of luck to you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
