I'm having surgery on Thursday and I feel like I am going to be some weird case and it won't work. I'll still be able to eat food and not lose weight. Anyone else feel like that?

I felt the same way pre-surgery and even now a week post surgery I will wonder if its worked and will continue to work :)

Totally normal!

My surgery is tomorrow. I worry about that all the time. What seems to help me stop worrying is looking up people on YouTube who had the surgery and are post op 2-more years. Seeing others success.

Yes! I think we all did, because what weight loss program, diet, etc, have we not done that DID work? We are use to them not working. Plus, this is a big deal- surgery. It makes you think, "what I am doing this for?" Another failure? Everytime I would doubt myself I would get on this forum and read all of the sucess and I realized all of these people can't be wrong. I am a food addict. I was very worried that I wouldn't be able to stop eating when I was full so I didn't think this would work for me. I eat differently, I have new habits, I haven't had a diet coke since pre-op, I have lost 43 lbs and am making real changes in eating habits and am much more active.

I think every one of us who have had the sleeve/bypass/what ever have felt like that. We all have had collectlively the same experiences of not being able to keep weight off and being told we are gross failures. Your feelings are totally normal and dont worry...you WILL lose. You can not help but, and you will feel good and happy and successful as you are doing it. And your family will be so proud and overjoyed that you have decided to stay on this side of the grass with them for a lot longer time. Hang in there and best wishes to you. Congratulations on your decision to be healthy.

I know how you feel. I am an emotional eater. So I had some concerns about that. But you came this far. You are a role for us and your family too!

You are going to do well.

Congrats

I am being sleeved on 12.12.12 and I have the same feeling. I was actually just saying this to my mom on Sunday... What if I am the one case that this procedure doesn't work for. I am not nervous at all for the surgery, however I am nervous about it working... Deep down inside I think I know that it will, but I still have that little bit of doubt!
