Alexandra 55 Posted July 3, 2004 I'd like to make a gentle suggestion that when discussions veer off on to areas unrelated from the topic heading, we start new threads in the lounge to continue the conversation. Just a mild suggestion. Carry on.
Penni60 45 Posted July 3, 2004 GREAT SUGGESTION and I am guilty of letting the thread drift or of drifting it. LOL!! Will be more diligent on this matter.
leatha_g 4 Posted July 3, 2004 Yep. I'm sure I'm guilty of it too. This is a new type of forum for me, but I've reminded myself in the middle of some dialogue that I was veering off the current topic. Thanks for the 'gentle' reminder. I'll try to do better, promise. Yana 0 Posted July 4, 2004 Sorry! I think it was me! I am not used to these type of things.....will try not to do it again...
hagerteresa 3 Posted July 4, 2004 Oh Yana, Trust me, I don't think your guilty. Us jabber jaws will go along answering some poor fellows post and someone says something slightly off topic and off we go. I think we all treat it like an actual conversation... LOL Who knows. It is hard to go back and find the responses though if you can't figure out what post you are supposed to be looking in. As well, sometimes something is only slightly off topic or just a different aspect of a topic. Teresa
Yana 0 Posted July 4, 2004 Thanks,Teresa. As you say one answers as if in a conversation and drifts off the topic which I suppose means at least the "conversation" is flowing!
Alexandra 55 Posted July 4, 2004 That's absolutely true, Yana, and I like to see all the casual conversation. That means friendships are being made and connections forged that will help all of us down the line. But I worry about the fact that new people might really want to read a thread on portion size (for example) and stop reading once the conversation has veered off on to home gyms. Then they won't come back if the thread has gone back on to the topic. I think it makes the whole board work better for us and for new people if we make an attempt to keep to the topic in the title. Once some other juicy topic has come up, feel free to start a new thread in the lounge!! Before we know it there will be lots of cool conversations going on there at all times.
