Indigestion...acid Reflux?

Recommended Posts

For the past few days I've been drinking fluids in the evening and I feel burning almost all the way to my throat. I take a daily zantac but it seems that after it wears off I feel this burning when drinking water! Anyone experience this before??

I'm going through this right now . The Water feels almost dry and not refreshing . I find I'm craving milk , I never drank straight milk before . I drunk the skinny kind and it settles that burning straight away .

Water is tricky to get in for me. If I drink too much at the wrong time I get acid reflux. I'm not talking about a bit of burning, I'm talking about the absolute interruption of all other activities until relief is obtained while your eyes are wide with frantic pain. As a remedy, I have my loving wife with her large purse take along an emergency baggie of fire extinguishers. In the kit are anti-gas pills, tums, a Protein bar, and for my other aches and problems, a 5 Hour Energy and a vicodin.

It seems sometimes an empty stomach brings on the problem. Especially in the morning, when I eat the pain goes away. Milk does give immediate help but knowing that milk contains lactic acid I question whether it doesn't cure the problem that it creates.

A forumite suggested doubling up on the Prilosec type acid inhibitors and not overdoing the tums. That has proven to be good advice.

I would suggest taking in Water slowly and be ready to fight back if it brings on the flames.

It's the Water bcuz I take a sip and it starts then after a while it goes away but I have to keep drinking bcuz I'm barely getting in around 30-40 oz of Water a day. On top of that the loose bm I have daily aren't helping. I've already gone to the er for iv fluids once. My Dr said next step is iv fluids at home:-( Thanks for the suggestions!!

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
