Heading to Mexico tomorrow for Tuesday surgery! I can't believe it is finally here. Pre-Op diet has gone well....I've already lost 6 pounds! It makes me question myself a bit, thinking why can't I lose this weight without surgery? Anyone else experienced this? I'm just so ready to be healthy and normal weight again. Not willing to sacrifice any more time to obesity and all it brings.

I'm really thankful to everyone on this board for sharing their stories and struggles- it makes mine easier. :)

Send me happy thoughts, positive vibes, good karma, and prayers for my surgery day and new life!

I had the same thoughts prior to surgery.......lets face it, if we could lose the weight and keep it off we wouldnt even be considering surgery..................I love my sleeve, it forces portion control! My sleeve is the food warden! You will love it!

YES! This is REALLY happening! WOOT WOOT!! My boyfriend asked me the same question today that you asked yourself. I told him I wanted to lose 40 pounds before the surgery and he was like "well if you can lose 40 pounds, then why can't you lose the rest of it without surgery?" I explained to him that first of all 40 pounds is a lot different than losing 150 pounds and also even if it did lose it all, I'd need the sleeve to help me keep it off. For me the sleeve isn't so much a tool for losing weight as it is a tool to help me maintain my weight. Have a good flight and a quick and pain-free recovery.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
