I havent had my band done yet but I do work with someone who had it done around a year ago. We had a pizza party the other day so I had a chance to watch her eat! Everyone got 2 large slices of pizza and a small side salad. My coworker didnt eat the salad and put the 2nd slice in a togo box. She cut the slice in little bites. She would chew chew and chew then ate another bite. Then the slice was gone. Basicly I ate my 2 slices and salad and she was still working on that one piece. While we were all talking she got up. I asked her when she came back how was it and she said she threw it up. She is in her 50's and has prior stomach problems before her surgery so I guess we can't compare but I tell you what Iam not going to eat pizza for a long time after my surgery. So the answer to your question is be carefull because some pizza is thick and if you do eat some eat thin crust. Hope that helped you out. Good Luck because I Love PIZZA too

I just got on and saw this post. I had my band put on in July of this year. Once I was on solids for awhile and needed a fill, I was able to eat a regular piece of pizza and part of a second. I had a fill on Oct. 7 and the other day had 2 slices of very thin, crispy crust pizza. It was a froze one (California Pizza Kitchen thin crust barbecue chicken). A friend of mine who has been banded for about 4 years or so can eat 1 piece of regular pizza. It all depends on the person...but if you can it will be with small bites, chewing very carefully.

I could eat it, I think at about 12 weeks, well that was the first time I tried anyway. I have no problem with it if I eat it slowly, but I can only eat one piece.

I usually have one small piece with some fresh salad if we have pizza for dinner, but I'd only buy gourmet style pizzas anway, I'd have to be starving to death before I'd eat pizza Hut. So I like pizzas with lots of fresher toppings than the production line style thing. Nine times out of ten it would be home made around here anyway since none of us particularly like bought pizzas unless they're expensive gourmet ones.

I can eat only very, very thin crust pizza, and less than one piece...sometimes. Other times, it doesn't work out at all. I generally stay away from pizza, just because it's so "iffy".

I can eat 1/2 piece to maybe one small piece without any problems it's just not something I want to eat anymore.

I can't eat pizza at all. I had tried just eating the cheese and toppings only but that made me very sick. That's ok though the trade off in lbs. lost has been more than fair.

Oh, yes ONLY thin crust. I loathe thick gooey crusts and the thought of that cheese filled crust makes me want to hurl. Yuck. I wouldnt have eaten that before I was banded.

I like making pizza on pita breads, but the kids dont like that.

The only pizza I can eat is Papa John's thin crust pizza. Depending on how tight I am, I can always eat one piece and part of a second. I have to be very careful and really chew it and take small bites. It takes me about 45 minutes to eat it.

Banded in August 2006 and was able to eat pizza when released to solids however small bites chewed forever and definetely no liquids with it. After my 1st fill I can only eat almost 1 slice but the desire for pizza is not there like before. But that is a good thing since DH and I use to eat a large between us with pitcherof beer. Now it is like 4 ounces of beer before served and 3/4 small slice of pizza as meal

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
