Does anyone know of a good book on just the sleeve?

There is one that a patient wrote and published on Amazon as a Kindle book for $3.99 though you can get the paperback for more.

I read it and it is basically a general summary. The title is:

The Sleeved Life: A Patient-to-Patient Guide on Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy Weight Loss Surgery.

I was really hoping for something more from the book. Everything you can read here is the same types of thing you get from your surgeon and nut and can read on these boards, but you may find it informational.

There is another book which I have not read available from Amazon by Dr. Alvarez.

Successful Weight Loss with the Gastric Sleeve

There is one called return to slender, its written by a nutritionalist that has actually had the gastric sleeve. She has also just brought out a second book Return to slender second helpings. It gives you fab recipes and explains the food stages. It tells you food and drinks to avoid and the reasons why and also gives tips for equipment etc post surgery.

These books are out of print and

funny thing, this book must be a collector item; look at cost: http://www.amazon.co...turn to slender

Second edition is OK though: http://www.amazon.co...54470158&sr=1-2

Lorraine if you have a copy and this is true, it may be worth allot.

Hi there, i am from Scotland and these books are still readily available here. If you go to bariatriccookery.com they sell them for less than £20 for the 2 books. It asks what currency you would like to pay in so might accept US Dollars.

Just checked and you can buy them and pay For them through a PayPal account, its £16.45 shipping to America though. Still a lot cheaper than the €300 it was asking for on Amazon though. Hope this helps. Xxx

I've got Dr. Alvarez's book...it's pretty good, lots of general information, some "troubleshooting" tips...you can order it off his website endobariatric.com or I think there is even a link on here somewhere I've seen.

I wonder why this is as it is on Amazon.com.us, something is wrong with that.

I've watched his youtube videos too and really like them. He was my first choice in surgeon but I'm not patient enough to wait to save up his surgery fee :/

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
