Well, just got back from CA from my grandpa's funeral a few hours ago and what a rough week. It was rough not because of his passing, but because I wanted to eat at all my old favorites. I ate every meal and threw up every meal. I would take literally one bite too many and off to the bathroom I went. My dad's idea of a night out is a 5-hour dinner with old friends, which I used to love. I'm finished eating before everyone else and then I just sit. The smell of everyone's food is usually what made me queasy. I excused myself once and my husband and I walked back to our room. But, with all of the downs, there were some amazing ups. EVERYONE noticed my weight loss and complimented me like crazy. We went to Disneyland on a whim. I was able to walk through a turnstile without turning sideways!!!!! I almost pulled down my once to tight blue jeans while walking to a ride. My jeans were so loose that my mom would tell me to pull up my pants. I walked that entire park and rode a dozen rides or so and my back didn't hurt at all!!! My back used to be so bad that I would have to rest frequently. I was never the first person to suggest a break. I guess I did okay given the situation, but man, I've been on cloud 9 for 3 days!!!!

Be very proud, girl! Remember our lives are for living-Disneyland, loved-ones. food is not life! A 5 hour meal is an event, not a meal! I'm not sure toomany people, WLS or not could tolerate that too often! I'm glad you excused yourself but sorry you got sick. I'm 7 weeks post op and still trying to gage my "full" level before that last bite too many. 99% of the time I'll feel a little burp come up. That's my red light to stop. Last night I decided to ignore it and are just one more mini mozzarella ball (nice dinner, huh?)and went to bed feeling sick, oy vey! One meal at a time is my motto!

Congrats on the weight loss. I am surprised you didn’t get sick was just seeing food. Once I was sleeved, I found it hard to watch people eat all my old favorites. I too went to Disney, about 6 months after surgery, for a conference. It was great! I walked for 6 hours straight! I never walked for 6 hours ever! And my feet still didn’t hurt after all that. On top of that, it was in the middle of summer and I was surprised how little the heat didn't bothered me. I used to hate the summer but now I love it! It was amazing. Anyway congrats, again!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
