Scared And Need Help

Recommended Posts

Hey yall I had surgery on the 26th of November and have been home three days now only on liquids. I had a really bad herniated esophagus so I will be on liquids for a month. Well for some reason I feel like there is something stuck in my chest like if i could just throw it up I would be okay but its not coming up. I have tried to make myself throw up and that didnt work either. Does anybody have any idea what this could be about and how to get rid of it. Its making me very nervous that this is happening and I need guidance.

Please anybody...

Hi adorablentx,

I don't think it's a good idea to try and make yourself throw up. Be careful! If it persists or gets worse, call your dr or go the ER. Keep us posted please. Hope it gets better. We're here for eachother. Have a good night.

well i am pretty sure you shouldnt be trying to throw up. it could be where he repaired the esophagus and it is stitches or staples. you just had major surgery, please get dr's guidance on what it is.

Hi adorablentx,

You've just had surgery, try sipping snd swallowing slowly. Wait about a minute or so, then sip again to see if the feeling in chest goes away, Keep us posted. :rolleyes:good luck

THANK YOU GLORIANN,, THANK YOU DIANA E... You guys are so very sweet I really appreciate your help. I will be calling my doctor tomorrow Im going to see if I can get through the night without being so irritated. So far its good since I got up, I can still feel whatever it is a little but not as much as before. Im going to get some Water and sip a little bit and then after that a little tv then back down into a coma. I think my mother being here being a nazi nurse is also scaring the crap out of me too, she makes comments that really get me scared and I really dont want that, I already feel bad and of course the guilt of doing this to my body, I just want her to be a mother and caring instead of being critical and un-supportive. Again thank you ladies nobody will understand like the people who have been there. Thank you!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
