I am 29 years old. I am ready to get the gastric sleeve journey started. I am doing research on which weight loss option would be best. Can anyone tell me why they chose the sleeve?

Lap Band has to many complications comes with it after the fact, while the By pass is way complicated in surgery and older technique, Sleeve has all the correct surgical tools to do it now. Sleeved seems that I will have no apetite after that makes me binge, my thinking is that the sleeved stomach works better than a by pass one for me. Also, I believe I'll get better nutrician from a sleeve from what I eat.

Not a problem, I wish you the best with it all. This seems more safe to me as of now too, I think after the months looking into it I feel that way now if that helps too.

Same reasons for me. I don't have high cholesterol or diabetes. Borderline hypertension, but nothing more. The sleeve was just a better choice

I am also 29. I am 4 and a half weeks post-op and feel like the sleeve was the best decision of my life. I have lost 57lbs and, although I have struggled a lot with acid reflux, i feel great.

I originally chose the sleeve because Portion Control was my biggest problem. I do not have a sweet tooth which my surgeon suggests rny to remedy and have heard too many stories of lap band complications and failures.

As a younger wls prospect I did months of research on rny, vsg, and lap band. I watched YouTube videos and read hundreds of posts from wls veterans. The Vitamin absorption issues with rny and the frequency of lap bands that required removal really set me on the sleeve.

I chose the vertical sleeve because I didn't want the dumping syndrome. Some studies show that Vsg eliminate the portion of the hormone that produces hunger. But research it for your self.

I did not want a foreign body in me.

Or the maintenance of the lap band.

I watched many you tube video before coming to this forum. I m happy with the choice of Vsg.

Good luck.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
