4 Days Out And Wtf Is Wrong With Me?

Recommended Posts

I am feeling hunger and tummy growling. I had a small kids yogurt about 1-2 hours ago and I'm hungry. I thought hunger would go away? Is it bc I'm still healing and swollen? :(

buttrfli1, did you do a pre op diet ? also I heard allot that there is noise after, I'm leaning on the idea your diet was that intense, I'd hate to scar you, it must still be that your hunger will be lesser and craving too some time.I am still pre op so I don't have comparison for it yet but I heard it both ways here reading before, can't be a definative answer for the moment maybe. Hope it changes soon.

It's perfectly normal! You need only liquids because your stomach is really swollen inside from the surgery. But the liquids flow through so quickly that you don't really feel full. I was sleeved on 11/12 and felt the same as you do that first week. Someone posted a link to a video by Dr. Alveraz that explained it all. It made me feel so much better knowing it was normal. I don't have that link but he is on youtube with questions of the week. Helped me alot.

Thank you both! I did have a preop diet. 4 weeks of normal dieting and 2 weeks very low carb. The day before was all liquids.

Fun size - I will check out Dr Alvarez on YouTube. I've been on there a lot following people and that's helped a lot too!

Try warm liquids and Soups. My stomach spasmed after cold and I mistook it for hunger.

Yes, my stomach is alot noiser. It talks all the time and I am almost a year out.

The videos aren't "knock your socks off wow", but just enough information to make you feel comfortable with what you're experiencing. I hope they help.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
