How Do I Fake It - Not What U Think ;)

Recommended Posts

Tell them you ate something bad the night before and have had the runs ever since. That you wanna take it easy so nothing too heavy. If they push you to eat, play with it for a few minutes, then excuse your self and go to the rest room. Hang out there for 5-10 and come back and say you think your stomach is acting up so you'll stick to Gatorade.

I feel ya! I was sleeved less than a week ago and attended the first of many Christmas parties tonight. I too kept my WLS a secret, only sharing with a few key people in my life.

I explained to the hostess earlier in the day I would be stopping by but unable to stay for dinner / dessert as my stomach was a mess from all the stress at work ( the holiday season is incredibly busy and stressful for my company... But in a good way!)

I was handed a drink when I walked in which I accepted but conveniently set down to tour the new house then never picked back up

It worked out well :)

Now I just have to get through the cookie exchange party tomorrow! I did manage to bake 3 dozen Cookies without having a single taste. And as forte ones that I will bring home from the party.... I leave those in the car and take them straight to work Monday

I hope you are as successful with your family party as I was with the Christmas party!!! You can do it!! Keep up the good work :)

Ok everyone... I survived!!! LOL

I had to say a few white-lies... but it went well!

Best part is... Eventhough I'm only 3 weeks post-op... down 20 since my surgery... plus 15 from my pre-op diet... a few relatives noticed the weight loss and it was nice to hear compliments so soon!

I had a blast... I was soooo nervous... but it went well! Too well, because when the music started playing I couldn't resist to dance... 3 songs and it was time to sit down... cuz my body reminded me that I'm post-op - I had pain on my left side :/ but not enough to ruin my nite.

Thanks Everyone <3

I just tell ppl I'm on crack.

Love it! I too went the "tell the truth the whole truth" route and believe it ir not, town gossips still got it wrong! People think I had "back" surgery not Bariatric! LOL! I'm tired of correcting people! I feel like saying, "i'm on crack, running around cheating on my husband with young dudes, not eating-simple!"

I'm with the come clean & tell the truth program. Best to do it now and get it over than to continue living a lie & giving people more reason not to trust you when it does come out, and eventually it will.

"what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive."

With all do respect... I believe to each it's own.

We will each deal with things in life "Our own way!"

Those of us who prefer to have WLS and keep the details private know our reasonings... And I can assure you it's not because we are pathological liars!

Not all of us are blessed with supportive family and friends. Some people are a bit close-minded and judgmental... And in fact quite insensitive to others.

In my husbands family an aunt had WLS- Gastric Bypass... She started at 310... And is now 200. WHICH I BELIEVE IS GOOD!!! However if you listen to "table talk"... sadly from the family... They say that she still looks fat! Just because they all have never struggled with being "morbidy obese"... WLS don't always make us stick thin.

In fact... I'm ok with being a petiter me at the end of my journey. Much like his aunt I too am very "pear-shaped." And will never look like others who are shaped differently. I've always been the fat one especially around my husbands family, and because of this I always feel insecure!

Weither I am right or wrong...

I rather have people/family/friends believe that I succeeded at a diet...

Than to deal with crap because in their eyes I failed at WLS.

I'm a private person in-general...

AND THIS IS HOW "I" and many ours choose to deal with our WLS!

TO EACH IT'S OWN!!!! :)

I think health issues are personal and I don't feel obligated to disclose any procedure with anyone if I don't chose to and if people look at me as a lier because I chose not to tell my business... I can live with it.

I know what you mean. If I hadn't run into so many problems trying to get time off from work, not that many people would know. Having HR tell me that it's an "elective and unnecessary surgery" prompted me to move past them and go directly to supervisors, managers, and general managers. All of whom petitioned for my time.

Otherwise it would have been just close family and like 4 friends.

People always hate, it's human nature. So why put yourself out there to receive that? I'll be happy to say I had WLS when I'm at goal. But while I'm still struggling to learn about myself and my new anatomy, I'm on "a diet and exercise"

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
