Why Cant We Have Red Gatorade ?

Recommended Posts

Blood in stool' date=' unless it's fresh and running is actually black, not red. And I was joking for gads sake...people LOL means Laugh out loud. There is blue gatorade and red gatorade, hence the association.

Ahhhahh!! See I thought your lol was a mocking of the issue! :)

Exactly... cuz thats what it seemed like... anyways... actually an upper gi bleed or old blood would be tarry/ black... but a lower gi bleed from an ulcer or perf can easily be bright red... as well as in the vomit... thus y we often have the "no red" rule...

I do apologize if i sounded like an ass ... the way i read ur post was that we were being rediculous n since ur dr didnt carr tge op should do whatever she wants ... so i was simply defending my position... #nopantiesimabunchhere... lol

I never heard the "no red" rule. I think your doctor is f**king with you to see if you are following the rules. Some people follow the rules no matter what. Some people don't follow them at all. I guess better safe than sorry.

Actually I kinda was mocking the rule. If your doctor does not know the difference between red dye and blood you desperately need a new doctor! BTW..I was served red Jello in the hospital. Apparently by smarter doctors :)

To get too in depth on the study of poop....red food, orange food, green food and blue food can tinge the color of a stool somewhat. But because its a digested material, the tinge is an all over/uniform coloration. Blood in stools on the other hand is streaky or spotted/clots or even tarry black dots the size of pin heads. Blue poop, red poop, orange poop....it means nothing :P

I spent four years studying poop with my son who has a blood disorder. Not a lot of fun but I am damn near a leading poop expert world wide now :P heh heh He's seven now, and still has issues, but not once in seven years, with many surgeries and hospitalizations has any doctor in the United States told us to avoid red. It's beyond stupid. I don't mock many doctor's rules...but that one is beyond the pale!

The G2 has far less food color than the regular gatorade. Ask your doc about it.

Darling they were all world class gastro docs at major children's hospitals in the US (our son was FTT with unknown cause for four years...we spent a lot of that time in hospitals all over the country chasing diagnosis). It's not better safe than sorry when it keeps someone from taking in fluids if that's the flavor that might help her handle fluids better.

Maybe gastro docs are just a lot poop smarter than regular docs :) After all, it's their living LOL

Kinda off subject... But are we allowed to have V8 juice? I'm traveling And ran out of drinks and I'm sorta hungry. Can I have a V8 from the gas station? I'm 10 weeks out.. Sleeve of steel and oked for 1/2 cup veggies a day.

Thoughts

I don't see why not at 10 1/2 weeks, although it has lots of salt.

I think I covered the legit reasons I laughed off the silly rule so I'll leave it at that. Do they also avoid orange and green? heh heh it's just silly but I find poop silly sometimes I guess :P Such is the life of a mom with a sick kiddo.

As to V8, it was on my full liquids options so I'm sure it's fine. But it is red so if you spill a drop on your shirt while driving, please keep in mind that you haven't suffered a gunshot wound, an alien invasion (or is that devasion...when they come out of your chest) or internal bleeding :P heh heh

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
