Hello! I am 3 weeks post op and everything is going fairly good. However, the last 2 nights I woke up with a gas / indigestion feeling in my chest/esophagus area. Feels like when you take too big a sip or bite of food. Like you have to burp but can't? I have not strayed off the diet. Made sure I chew everything really well. The only change is I starting using the CPAP again. I wonder if the air from CPAP could be causing this. Anybody else experience anything similar? Thanks

Are you taking Prilosec or Prevacid anything for your stomach you may want to consider it if not

I have heard some other people mention this. They said the cpap is pushing in too much air and its going into their stomach. Might be something to talk to the doc about? I never used my cpap after surgery so i don't know if that could be it or not.

I had the same problem, pre-op, when i used my CPAP and ate to close to bedtime. I sometimes have the same problem now, 3wks post-op, when i eat and rest on the sofa right after eating. Asked my doc about going back on Prilosec, was on before surgery, but he said it was not acid reflux, and it's normal, and will pass with time. Just your stomach adjusting to its new size.

I think that's what it may have been. Eating too close to bedtime. I am on Prilosec. Started it last week. I'm not going to eat at least 3 hrs before bed. Thanks!

I just woke up last night to this burning in my chest. Took a tums...ok two and it relieved it long enough for me to fall back asleep but I just woke back up to it. It's weird how this stuff happens to so many of us. Just gotta get hold of someone at the office.

I stopped using my Cpap about 2 weeks after surgery; I felt like it was pushing in too much air. After a few nights without it, I felt better. I never used it again.

That's funny because since I stopped using mine last week, the funny indigestion feeling in my upper stomach went away. I too, feel like it was pushing too much air

I saw my sleep ap Dr yesterday and she said after surgery the machines need to be recalibrated because the air pressure is too high. She also said my mask needs to be smaller as well.

I couldn't use my cpap post-op, I ripped off my face the poor nurses kind of lost it. I lost over 100lbs pre-surgery so I had my machines presure calibrated before my surgery to reflect the difference. It felt like I had a jet engine on the other end of the hose that was pumping air inro my stamatch. Finally one pretty sharp nurse came over and let the air run acroos her hands from my mask, she looked at me and siad she though the pressure had surley been miss calibrated and ordered them to give me some pain meds.

I took the cpap into the company I deal with about a week post-op. They plugged it in and were all whoops! Sorry. I haven't returned to pick it up yet but I'm sleeping so much better without it I can't see using it at least for now.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
