It seems like all of the sudden December 3rd has made it's way into my life.... I have surgery in 2 days. I'm so nervous. Now instead of it still being months or weeks away.... I'm packing. How are you guys feeling? How are you dealing with your nerves?????

My date is Jan 7th and my nerves are going to be out of control i know it. I work with a surgeon and he keeps telling me i should be just fine and after a few months i will laugh at myself for being nerved out. Its normal to be nervous, its surgery! Elective! I just try to look at how it will change my life for the good. I think your nerves will be crazy until you are put to sleep on the table. I know mine will. I wish you all the luck and keep us posted with your post op progress.

Mine is on Monday too. I'm feeling a little anxious but I'm just trying to get all my ducks in a row. I have to pack, get to the pharmacy, get my bedroom set for my return home, get my Protein station set up with all my powders, broths, blender, etc. It's all going to be great. HUGS

Hi, counting down, day 10 to 11th day 0, wish you luck. At this point I don't feel so nervous, at 2 or 3 days left I am sure I will be more. just saying what I have for hospital is; I have big sized Robe, sweats, clean new changes for under clothes, gasX, pad&pen, some lubricant spray for dry mouth, some petty cash. They have phone and television which is enough for me for 2 days, I am not bringing laptop or phone but you can I understand have them.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
