5 Hours Later And I Feel Like Im Gonna Pop!

Recommended Posts

I ate half an ounce of cheese 5 HOURS AGO. Yes, I am 4 days post op. but soft liquidy cheese was okay by NUT. I feel sooooo full. Like I want to throw everything back up just for some relief.

Wtf.

Someone help me figure out what's going on plz. I'm about ready to make myself puke that's how bad it is.

I've only ever thrown up twice and both happened this week as I'm experimenting with food. I got the worst burning pain in my chest both times and made myself throw up. Just the wrong food and too quick.

When I was on liquids if I drank a little too much I'd lie down for 10 mins and it would pass, took it real easy coz I didn't want a leak

I did manage to get down a lot of Water, about 9 oz in 4 hours. Maybe I over did it

wow...i couldnt even think of anything but Clear Liquids for almost a week...im 12 days out now and had pintos n cheese and frozen yogurt today for the first time. Sounds like it was just too soon for something so heavy, remember you probably still have some swelling. I felt pretty much the same 4 days out. My nut would had never allowed liquid cheese that early.

I think I'd hold of on any more cheese for a few more weeks. It doesn't sound like your stomach is ready for that.

Yeah ur stomachs probably telling u it's not ready, I was on liquids for 2 weeks, nothing but Protein shakes, drinking yogurts, thin Soup and Water.

Even when I moved to the purée stage I stuck to mainly Protein Shakes just to try and get in the Protein

My first two weeks was only liquids, too. Clear broth, diluted juice, shakes mixed with Water, sugar free popsicles, tea. I couldn't even have Jello, pudding, yogurt, or baby food until weeks 3-4.

You might consider sticking to shakes and Soups until your sleeve heals more. It will be more comfortable. After all, you are only 4 days out. At 4 days out, I was just struggling to drink an ounce of Water and things did not improve until the second week. I was still on shakes for 3 weeks as directed by my NUT. It is good to go slow with introducing new foods and quantities as you pass through the different stages. At 5 months out, I am pretty good with solid Proteins and vegetables, but cannot eat more than 4 ounces at a time with getting the stuck feeling in my chest. However, I can do really well with Water and can drink 32 ounces in a couple minutes. Drinking water is actually a little more important than eating at your early post op stage.

If you really miss cheese go get the campbells healthy cream cheese Soup and mix with Water .. its yummy and safe for your tummy ... its what I had for dinner . My doc says I can't eat anything but liquids for three weeks after , then only pureed foods for two more weeks to protect my new sleeve.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
