What Are You Eating These Days?

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on Oct 23rd. So I am in between my 5th and 6th week and was just wondering what others are able to eat at this stage.

I have been able to tolerate pretty much everything except for beef (other than ground beef). I have a shake in the morning, some type of Protein rich lunch (cold cuts, seafood salad, egg & cheese omelet) a cheese stick for a snack and then whatever my family is having for dinner (minus the starch). I have had a bit of sweets (sliver of pumpkin cheese cake on thanksgiving, a bite of fried ice cream when we went out to dinner) but that is about it. I am staying away from bread, Pasta and rice during the "honeymoon period." I set my goal of 600 to 800 calories but it is usually low to mid 600's each day. I am walking 30 minutes 3 times a week (should be more, but happy that I am doing anything)

suejersey,

When you eat your Protein like meat, how many ounces are you eating at one sitting. I still struggle on portion sizes. I have been eating 2 oz but when I am done I am not full but I am satisfied. Just want to make sure that I am eating what I am supposed to at this point. And an omelet, how much of that do you eat?

I can eat only 2 ounces at a time and fell stuffed if it is meat. I can only handle chicken, beef makes me nauseous. I can eat 3 oz of apple sauce though and not feel stuffed but satisfied.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
