Dreamfields "low Carb" Pasta

Recommended Posts

Hello! I have gone to numerous grocery stores and I keep seeing Dreamfields Healthy Carb Living Pasta. While a 2oz serving has 41 carbs, they said that there are only 5 carbs because those are the only digestible carbs (the other carbs are Fiber or protected carbs, whatever thise are). I am a pasta LOVER, but I'm also a skeptic. 5 carbs in a bowl of pasta?? Has anyone spoken to their NUT or doctor about this or tried the pasta themselves?

My family has this about once a week, or every other week. My NUT approved it, and actually suggested it. And the cool thing, it actually tastes like ...... PASTA!!!! Not wet cardboard like the other low carb Pasta options I've tried. Good stuff!

If you like Pasta, check out www.Emilybites.com she has a pizza baked spaghetti recipe, a 4 cheese and sausage stuffed shell pasta recipe, and the lasagna cupcakes are great for lunches!

These are all staples at my house! I use the dream fields for the pizza spaghetti and hunts 4 cheese sauce.

I love it. It taste like regular Pasta. Another thing it doesn't run my blood sugar up. Regular pasta runs my blood sugar sky high. Dreamfield pasta don't.

I've used these (pics) Shirataki Noodles, they are endorsed by Hungry Girl and have angel hair, spaghetti, macaroni, fetuccini, etc. my fave is the angel hair Pasta it is tofu, so really it will take on the flavor of any sauce you put it in. Okay, it smells a little funky when you open the package, but I normally throw the pasta in a colander to remove the liquid and rinse it with some hot Water before putting it in the sauce and heating. I'm still pre-op but my old NUT told me these were good as a filler (she still wanted me to get SOME carbs at least) she approved though... This one says 20 calories (5 fat cals.) and 3 g carbs per serving (2 servings per package)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
