I was sleeved 8/14/12 at sisters hospital. Where are you having your surgery? I feel my weight loss is going at a snails pace but what can I do...at least I'm losing weight and losing inches. Tell me about your friends that had the surgery. Have they lost a lot? I'm down 37 lbs to date. Good luck in your journey!

I have to re-do two things, my pre screening at sisters and get cleared by my primary. Otherwise, it's all good. I am taking a little refresher nutrition class though :)

How long before your surgery was your sisters appt? I usually plan things way in advance so it's driving me crazy that the paper says sisters will call me to schedule it lol. Just trying to figure out when ill get that call

I went in if I remember correctly like a week to a few days before my surgery....but no more than a week. Plan to be there for a while, they are very thorough. They take blood and urine samples, chest X-ray, EKG, and a health history. Hope all goes well for you. Good luck!

Ill be 5 months next week, but I eat most chicken, softer foods because that's what my sleeve prefers and I avoid breads...which is weird because I loved breads but since the surgery, bread feels like I have cotton in my mouth. I don't lie the texture of it. I eat yogurts, puddings, cheeses, small portions of potatoes, veggies but mostly lots of chicken and regular foods except salads, I have to really chew it. I don't tolerate bananas as much either. Nits a hit or miss with foods as I'm still learning too. Are you seeing Dr. Carauana?

Yep! He seems fantastic, although a girl I know did RNY with him about 7 or 8 months ago and said he doesn't do many sleeves since they're not his speciality. I want to just attribute that to the RNY vs. Sleeve gang war, lol, but she's making me a little nervous.

Interesting, the class I was in for workshops and nutrition were all sleeves. But I will say he was wonderful! No kind of pain and felt very good early on. Never threw up or had any problems post op.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
