That definitely is practice indeed! :)

You're so fun and yet you are hurting. I'm so glad you have someone loving to care for you!

How is your mom?

My heart goes out to you!

Mom's surgery went perfectly. She's been queasy once. She's going home this afternoon.

Ahhh barf in the bed...can you try to wet the sheets next time? Just so he gets really great practice :P

All kidding aside, I too am glad you can smile after all you've been through my dear. I'm so glad to read mom is doing well!!!! That must help a tiny bit.

I've never had thrush, though heard it's no fun :( I hope the drugs are quick to give you some relief.

Liz, just as we read Iggy's story as it unfolded and prayed for her everyday, we feel the same way for you. It royally sucks, this messed up journey you're living through, but life ain't for sissys and you my dear are no sissy. You are gonna get thru this. Hang in there and about the messy house, well I'll give it over to Irma Bombeck who so eloquently said, "Don't sweat the small stuff". Right now its about trying to keep fluids down and getting some rest (at an incline, of course) to help you heal.

Good thoughts woman.

This was perfectly timed because I was started to get in a funk. I cannot express how much you all have helped. :)

If we need to post a joke of the hour we will (that's a warning cuz I tell really bad jokes).

Here's a bit of how that would go....

Why did the monkey fall from the tree?

Long pause....

Longer....

Longer...

"Why" says Liz?

Cuz he was dead!

Hilarious laughter on my side....silence and a very funny look on your side....

Ya that's pretty much how this is going to go Liz...that's my GOOD joke! So defunk NOW! heh heh

Two snakes slithering thru the grass...one snake says to his buddy, "hey, are we poisonous or non poisonous?" The other snake says, "why do you ask?" The first snake says, "cause I just bit my tongue!"

Thrush medicine is helping after first dose. Still nauseous with phenergen, zofran, and scope patch so I'm worried about my liquids. One of my dogs is home with me today. (We have 2 but I've had my chihuahua longer than I've had my fiancé ;]) he hasn't left my side. Had to move to the couch to stay elevated. I kept waking up on my belly or side when I was in the bed. I may need tied up to stay in a good position lol. Maybe I'll move into Chris's Archie Bunker chair...

Two muffins are sitting in an oven. One muffin turns to the other and asks, "Do you think it's hot in here?"

The second muffins screams,"AAAAHHHHH TALKING MUFFIN!"

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
