Famous Bandsters?

Here is my two cents about Star Jones:

If you want to have WLS and keep it a secret, it is absolutely your perogative. Having WLS is can be an embarrassing thing to admit, and you also have a tendency to wonder what is being said behind your back by the people you have told. or whether they are judging you.

BUT- if you are going to have WLS and you want to keep it a secret, DON'T WRITE A TELL-ALL BOOK WHICH CHRONICLES YOUR WEIGHT LOSS AND CONVENIENTLY OMIT THE SURGERY PART. That's why she pisses me off.

I heard her vehemently deny having bypass surgery and I also heard she had the same as Sharon Osborne. Her scars definately look like ours. Whichever. I heard her say on The View that she would not disclose not because she was ashamed, but because she tried to bargain with them to do it for free in exchange for the "advertising." When they declined to even give her a discount she said she would not disclose on air, but would answer face to face questions.

In any case, I didn't mean to cause a ruckus. I would not have mentioned her if I thought it was not true.

Sorry.........

You don't have to apologize. I've heard other people say that Star had LB surgery but I doubt it, too. She lost too much, too fast. As for the scars, they are the same for RNY and LB.

I had never heard the advertising bit before. That just amazes me, that someone would offer to negotiate a discount for their surgery in return for advertising the procedure on TV. What happened to plain old dignity?

Didn't Barbra Walters let it "slip" that she had the bypass after she left the View? I thought I remember reading that Barbara told her big dark secret to the world. ~Mandy

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
