I am about 2 1/2 months out and have been so grumpy the past few weeks. I have never been a grumpy bad mood type of person... I have had super bad road rage and things that never would have bothered me in the past get to me so easily! I'm wondering if anyone else has had these type of mood changes? I'm happy with my decision, so I'm not sure why I'm so easily irritated lately!!

The surgery has probably messed with your hormones. You sound like I used to be before I got treatment for my PMDD! See if its just a time of the month thing or if its all the time. Talk to your doctor about it if it continues.

Oh shut up and quit your whining for gads sake! :P

See I'm not grumpy at all heh heh and the real answer is likely hormones as stated above. You produce more estrogen when you are rapidly losing weight and it does a little number on your body that can lead to the grumps. I took massive doses of the stuff for two years when we were doing IVF and let me tell you, both DH and DS breathed a sigh of relief when I got off the crap! (I however think I was lovely at all times....heh heh)

Hi,are you also weepy and more emosional? Then it is hormones.

If you are just agro and moody it might be high Proteins low carbs that do this to you.If you are on 60g of Proteins this shouldnt happen but he moment my total Protein for the day goes up to 80 I am very irritable.

Hope it passes soon.

I am not weepy or extra emotional, just grumpy.. My poor husband LoL.

I'm averaging about 50 grams a Protein a day I haven't noticed that its been related to anything. It just recently started the last 2 weeks... Thanks for everyone's thoughts... If it continues I might give my Dr a call... Thanks :)

I was never weepy and emotional on estrogen. Just grumpy :P

So if I fed you a steak would you chop my head off after dinner? LOL You're going to have to carry a "beware chef" card if this 80g Protein issue keeps up! :P

hmmmm...interesting thread...I'm thinking that if this happens to me after surgery, my husband in is for a dose of his own medicine. We will see how HE likes it! ;)

I'm just thankful for a very understanding husband who knows to not be in my way right now. LoL... I'm hoping this doesn't last....I did go for a walk at lunch and it helped so maybe I just need to up my exercise if that's even possible for me right now... I already do hour long kickboxing/boxing classes and a boxing gym 3-4 times a week plus walking everyday.. but being that I work full time and by full time its about 50-55 hours a week and I am in school full time pursuing my MBA... ugh.. but if that will keep me from being grumpy... ahhh. sorry for the long rant. LOL.

Omgoodness! Honey, you're not to blame for being grumpy! Look at that schedule and think of the stress it causes (whether you're Superwoman or not!) and seriously, no one can blame you for being grumpy! (I'm worn out AND grumpy just reading it!)

Hey Iggychic,

If you or any chef for that matter, can manage to feed me a steak with 80g of Protein I'll give you a million bucks, not kill you....as it is,the 3oz steaks that I can eat is just about 24g which is perfect for a meal with no carbs.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
