So, here I am pre-op trying to stick to a mostly high Protein diet of approx 1200 calories a day. I'm just starting so I'm still 3 months out. Yesterday at work someone brought chocolate frosted custard filled donuts and the some others ordered pizza at lunch. Kill me now. I didn't eat any but I sure wanted to. No donuts today thankfully and the caf has grilled chicken on the lunch menu. On a positive note, one of my co-workers is having surgery about the same time, also the sleeve. She is my rock and I am hers right now.

Jac1970, good that you have each other to keep on track. I know how you feel, the donuts, pizza, etc, that my co workers bring in is absolute torture!!! Keep on track, the two of you will do great! Best wishes for a happier, healthier future!

Im on my 14 day preop diet and am on day 7 right? We were watching Survivor last night and they were bidding on foods like fried chicken, pancakes, yummy sandwiches and here I am starving lol. My mouth was literally watering. I would have mugged someone for a sandwich last night but I stayed strong and had a Protein Shake. Oh and this morning at work someone toasted up some delicious smelling cinnamon raisin toast. They almost got mugged. Just sayin'.

Stay strong...I think temptation is almost worse than the hunger! You can do this, it's well worth it (speaking from someone whose been in your shoes & is now on the other side of the fence.)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
