JoeyyMerc 9 Posted November 29, 2012 Alright, So today i had a pretty depressed day because i miss chewing or eating a bit. Craving a lot of old foods but I'm strong enough too just say no. I'm sure its normal. I'm going to try scrambled eggs tomorrow and see how it goes down my body heals really quick i have no pain what so ever and when i went to the doctor he said everything is defiantly working. I have 2 questions, would it be realistic to want my favorite meal by Christmas day which is chicken Parm? Obviously it would be in low amounts but even just a little bit of it would help a lot in the whole can't really eat deal. My other question is i seem to really dislike the shakes to the point where for the past week all i have had was Water and apple juice and one Protein Shake. It has nothing to do with being full i just don't have the taste buds for it any suggestions?
OneWritersSoul 353 Posted November 29, 2012 I feel your pain! It's a major adjustment but it's imperative that you let your body heal. Perhaps ask your doctor about chewing gum, as others have mentioned it helped them get through this part. As far as your favorite meal by Christmas- that would depend on your Phase and your nutritionist/surgeon. If you're advanced into puréed foods or soft foods, there's probably no reason you couldn't but again, check with the professionals. If you're on Clear liquids, perhaps try other juices such as cranberry and white grape. Be sure they're light or diet and dilute them though as you don't want an upset tummy from the sugar content. Other good choices are broth, sugar-free Popsicles, and Crystal Light. Do you know how long each of your phases is? That might give us a better idea of recommendations to give you. Miss Michi 33 Posted November 29, 2012 I know what you mean, I was sleeved last Friday 11/23 and am doing really well I can tolerate my Protein Drinks although my diluted juice, crystal light, tea and Jello go down way smother than anything else..... I've been craving food!!! Yesterday I licked my daughter's chili cheese frito and the Mac & cheese spoon just to get a little taste if something else LOL I see my surgeon next week and I should start puréed and myshies next week..... I feel you keep us posted I want to know how that scrambled egg went down

BigPeels 17 Posted November 29, 2012 I was sleeved on 11/19. My doctor has already moved me into stage 3 foods. Besides the portions ( I had 1 scrambled egg and couldnt even finish it) you are going to see your taste start to change. Im speaking for myself and my wife who was sleeved 4/2012. Come Christmas you migjt not even want your favorate meal, but I found that a quick brown in a skillet and finished in the oven makes the chicken very soft to eat. JoeyyMerc 9 Posted November 29, 2012 I'm eating the egg now, i have a bowl of it. It's going down pretty good no problems! So I'm going to do more purees but i don't have a puree thing or blender so I'll just do yogurts or puddings, eggs stuff like that any other suggestions? I have also been losing about a pound a day so I'm doing good with everything. Really hope i can have some soft chicken, a little bit of noodles and sauce and Parmesan for Christmas it would be the best present.

If you do have your meal on Christmas just chew really well and take it really slow! Stop eating way before you are full which will be difficult with your favorite meal! I did this on thanksgiving with Turkey and I was fine.
