Two Week Stall Staring Two Weeks Post Op?

Recommended Posts

I had surgery 10/31 and lost 23 pounds in the first two weeks. I was ecstatic! Now, in the two weeks since then I've only lost 4 pounds and I'm, obviously, not happy.

I know I'm not meeting my goal of 50-60 grams Protein and all of my liquids. I'm trying each day though. I'm still on mushies and lots of food gets stuck.

What's going on? Please tell me the weight loss will pick up some! Not askin for ten pounds a week, but this isn't working!

It will pick back up. I am going through that right now. I am 5 weeks out and down 51 pounds. I started the gym this week and increased my fluids and Protein. It will pick back up but you will have stalls again. Don't be afraid to call your NUT and get other options. Good luck!

I had my first stall at three weeks out... and it lasted three weeks.

It will pick back up. It is actually pretty hard on the body to go through a major surgery, recover and still lose weight. Your body stalls in order to give you time to adjust to the new caloric intake and all. I added some additional calories (about 200 extra per day) and it jump started my weight loss. I know it sounds funny but my body had just acclimated to the calories it was being given and wouldn't let go of anymore. After a few days of increased calories the weight started coming off again and I dropped those calories back down...seems to have worked for me...give it a try!

Good Luck!

I'm stalled out still. I lost another couple pounds then it just stopped. I'm just frustrated. I know I shouldn't be this early out and I guess my expectations are just too high.

I keep hoping that it's my body gearing up for that time of the month, I always kind of retain Fluid and all that jazz. But, nothing comes! lol.

Back at work now and it's sedentary and all I want to do is snack even though I'm not hungry! So, hopefully that's another indication of my period coming, that emotional eating.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
