Attention February 2013 Sleeve Buddies!

Recommended Posts

It's really hard to have complications especially when everyone else seems to breeze right through it! I had my surgery on the 6th and I am still in the hospital because of a pulmonary embolism but I am hoping to get out around Monday. You just have to remember its just a little glitch in your plan and even though you can't work out the way you want for two weeks you will still be losing weight because of the diet! Hey maybe you might even bypass your stall because you will be adding more exercise later on!

Wow this makes me feel better... Great advice... And you right it's just a small glitch.. I thank Jesus that I'm still here... Thank you so much for the advice!!!

Okay so here goes. Surgery went awesome! I was up and out of my hospital bed by 7 o'clock that evening. I had a good walk around the hospital floor. And wasn't in a town of pain that night. Getting woken up for blood sugar readings every hour got very old and made it hard to get a good nights sleep since I'm a type One diabetic but all seemed to be going well. Then the drain that they had in my side started to irritate the end my insides and cause me to feel like I was having lots of gas pain and soreness and my catheter was really irritating the end of my penis causing it to be harder to walk so I requested that the catheter be taken out and they actually took that out the next day. Sauron day two and day three I walked over 4 1/2 miles just trying to get the exercise in and really didn't run into any problems unseal the third day morning when I stood up to walk out of bed and my calves were super super tight. Seems that I was sleeping in my bed with my feet straight up-and-down because the bed was too short for the length of my body. Being 6' 3" made it difficult for them to find a bed that was long enough and comfortable for me. That caused me to have some serious sleep issues being able to get comfortable. When I went home on Friday I felt great. Was home Friday night and felt tired and then Saturday relaxed and went out for dinner and time with family space and then walking with family through target. Having very very very many doubts about whether I should of had the surgery or not. As I'm watching other people eat in restaurants and me struggling taking down Soup knowing that I'd much rather be having that burrito or those nachos or that cheeseburger that Fried chicken. I miss eating the foods I don't know if I'm not feeling hungry because I'm testing my body or if it's because I see those foods I definitely don't have any of the full symptoms and it makes me worry that I'm going to go right back into my over eating habits just need help.

It's in your head. You're head hungry. Your body is fine. You should probably stay away from restaurants for a while. Find some other way to spend time with your family. Don't get down on yourself. We are all making the right decisions. It's our time to take care of ourselves. You WILL be able to eat that food again. You just won't eat nearly as much. Bide your time. You'l be able to taste those things soon. Stay on track and don't be afraid. I will be sleeved on Thursday. I expect a pep talk too. :)

Hey guys!! I got my sleeve done on Monday' date=' February 4th, 2013. It feels good so far. I went to Mexico and had it done with Dr. jaime Ponce de leon. He's simply amazing...and I only found him because of Trish, my surgery coordinator...who happens to be my backbone throughout this experience! So far everything is new and im trying to take day by day. I am already back home in Jersey. Im sure I will have a lot of questions, so being here with you guys sharing the same experience means a lot to me! :)[/quote']

He's doing mine on Monday, good to hear a good report!

I had my surgery on the 5th. I'm still in the hospital. Im having an issue w spasms in my throat making it difficult to drink. First day out I took maybe 3 tablespoons of Water. Yesterday I got in about 10 ounces. They think w a little more help today I can go home tomorrow morning. I'm scared about going home and being nauseous and.or not getting my fluids in.

Really wish that pain would go away

Praying for you Juny,..

Thanks, I'm home now, feeling a lot better. Spasms aren't gone but they're going away. I think I did 25ish ounces today. Hoping that I continue to improve at this rate so i can get back to work.

Hi everyone, I was Sleeved on Feb. 7 and I'm doing well. Trying to stay hydrated has been my biggest challenge since it hurts a little when I drink anything, the pain is tolerable and doesn't last long it's just irritating. I'm a Lapband convert, I had the band 5 years ago and lost 114 lbs but it slipped last year and I had to have it removed, consequently, I gained back 50 lbs so I'm looking forward to my Sleeve journey and the weight loss it brings.

Hey all, hope everyone who has had surgery this far is recovering well, if not I hope you will be soon. I have about a week to go before my surgery and I feel like I am nesting...lol...Cleaning painting and tearing off wall paper...I guess I got alot of nervous energy and probably will until the big day. Getting more nervous as time goes by..

Hello all February sleevers,

Feel so bad that I cheated on pre-op and now I am paying for it. Been doing two shakes and one sense-able mean a day and I had a brownie. My stomach yelled at me! I digress. Back to my regularly scheduled program. 7 days and a late wake up till surgery....so nervous.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
