Attention February 2013 Sleeve Buddies!

Recommended Posts

Am I missing something? Are you all being instructed to take clean your insides out before surgery? Did yall not have to do a liquid pre op diet? My doctor didnt say anything about having to take Milk of Magnesium or colon cleanse before my surgery next friday.

I think if the preop diet is very short lived, then they do a bowel prep. I did two weeks of preop Protein Shakes without a bowel prep (dropped 25 lbs.) . For some people the preop diet is just a few days or it's just a calorie restriction.

Each surgeon is different. I didn't require a bowel prep and was only on Clear Liquids the day before surgery.

Just got a call from the surgeons office..moving my surgery to THIS FRIDAY!! Geez! I'm feeakimg out trying to get everything in order to shave a week off of my regular date and schedule . I drive 3 hours one way to have my preOp at the hospital..then drive 3 hours home..work one day...go back to the surgeons office on Thursday for a day long class on having the sleeve and all that goes with it. No class no surgery...then Friday at 7:15 surgery... Shaking in my boots right now....but sorta happy its fast and furious instead of waiting.

New surgery date of Feb. 22!

I've been on clear liquids and Protein Shakes for a week. No colon cleanse or anything like it. I do have to clean my tummy with special antibacterial soap tonight and in the morning.

It just depends on your surgeon. I wasn't told do the colon cleanse either

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
