Does Unjury & Iced Tea Work?

Recommended Posts

Desperately trying to find a way to get more Protein before i go bald and waste away.

the only way I have been able to get my liquid is slightly sweetened cold iced tea sipped all day.

Cant tolerate fruit flavored waters, etc. since surgery.

Has anyone tried unflavored Unjury (or similar) with iced tea?

I have wasted so much money on all types of Protein drinks, powders, shakes, etc. etc. im looking for input before I spend any more.

Personally, I can't tolerate Unjury or Isopure unflavored in anything but dairy based liquids. I've read that people can tolerate the unflavored Proteins in Clear Liquids but I think it just tastes horrid (think I just poured iced tea in my milk glass). Are you still in liquids? I found that greek yogurt and making Protein pudding help me get my protein in... I probably eat more dairy than I ever did before because I don't do well with shakes either - but when all else fails I do force down a shake.< /p>

One thing I did, was I looked under the protien shake forum and topics, I found some links where people listed places to purchase 'samples' I purchased about 100 different samples from various places. These are single serving protien powders. I have a little notebook, each time I drink a shake right now, it is a sample. I write down the name os it, then make notes, chalky, tasty etc and rate from 1-10 when I get done with all the samples I will look back decide what I liked best then buy a full size package of the protiens I liked best. I think it's a good way to change it up, and I'm not wasting 40-60 dollars at a time on tubs and tubs of protien I may or may not like. I also am a HUGE iced tea fan, but was told no regular tea after surgery due to the caffine, so I have switched to herbal teas, green, and flavored teas like blueberry and mixed berry, etc. I am not sure if this info helps, but this is what I've been doing. I also personally found warm to hot liquids go down easier for me, I used to be an ise fanatic, but since surgery, cold drinks don't go down for me. I have Unjury unflavored and Iso pure unflavored protien powders also, I've not tried them in tea, but they dissolve well in broths I've found. I do not like the aftertaste they give though, it tastes like egg white to me, but others say they have no taste of it, everyone is different! I hope you find a happy medium soon, and maybe my info helps! Good luck!!

I have used the Unjury unflavored and the chocolate in iced coffee, so I do not think it will be much different. Even the unflavored has a little taste at first, though. I just ignore it. The unjury chicken Soup is good, and nectar is also a good brand I think. I would ditto the post above-try the samples. good luck!

thank you everyone. a friend had unflavored and i put it in iced tea before reading the posts -- yeah, milk in iced tea. did not work.

i've gotten alot of samples and single serve packs along with spending way too much $$ on packages. I've just decided that shakes are not something i can drink anymore. I cant even stand the texture of milk.

loosing so much hair it's driving me crazy. Ugh.

Have you tried the Isopure Fruit drinks? Some people hate them but I like them. One 20 oz bottle gets 40 grams of Protein. I mix it with lemon Water too. Also just tried Protein gem Jello. 130 calories and 25 grams of protein. It's not bad t all!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
