I got my surgery orientation date!!! THIS Sunday the 23rd!!!! Woo-Hoo!!!

They do orientations on Sunday? Hope all goes well! I was given a surgery date for the 24th but turned it down. As much as I want to get to the operating table, I don't want to miss Christmas with my grand kids. I think I can last till the 9th.

I'm pretty sure you can. A lot of people bring someone with them. They'll tell you if you can't bring them or just to be on the safe side call and ask

I'm pretty sure I remember people bringing their spouses or significant others to orientation. I think I even remember one if them falling asleep and snoring!! Lol

I agree if they do NOT want you to bring someone they will specifically tell you

They want you to bring your support person to any appt except the psychologist appt. you gotta do that one alone. I'm taking my daughter 18 yrs old) to my pre op class tomorrow cause she is a mother hen and will take care of me after surgery. Plus she's smart and I thought she would understand the restrictions better than my hubby.

Ha! That's funny! That's good to know. I really want my husband to go to understand all that I will be going through and what will be expected of me.

I went through S. SF Kaiser. I think all N. Cal Kaiser will take your highest recorded weight (with Kaiser) in the last year. BMI if 35 + co-morbidity, or BMI of 40 to qualify. I don't think they have the options classes. They have orientation, pre op, many tests, psych eval, meeting with surgeon, nutritionist, etc, pre op class. I think the shortest time is 2-3 months, and it could take longer. I had sleep apnea, but had to be on the machine for 2 months before they would do the surgery. I really liked S. SF Kaiser. I barely qualified, but I'm very glad I did. Just had the surgery on Monday. Good luck to everyone.

Glad orientation is behind you, kim! Now to meet with your surgeon and get your goal weight so you can get started! Just an FYI, there was no time limit where I am in south sac. Only meet the goal weight and get thru all the appts. The hold up in my case was trying to get in to see the psychologist. I wasn't aware you can call for an appt with him when you are within 5 lbs of goal. I thought I had to wait until I was at goal. So by the time I called, he was booked out about a month. Just keep that I'm mind and call as soon as possible so there's less of a delay. And good luck!!!

Hi Kim.

I havent logged in for a while but was pleased to see that things are moving ahead for you :)

Keep me posted on your progress. I was approved for surgery and placed on the waitlist as I am seeking a June surgery date and they dont book that far ahead. I am at the top of the list when that calendar opens in May, so my orders are to maintain my preop weight goal and have my weight recorded again in April.

Im excited for you. You're in great hands with the Fremont staff!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
