I too ate a pickle.. I literally got up from watching TV with my boyfriend and I went and drank a few sips of the juice and ate a bite of a pickle... it was the best pickle I have ever had!

Pickle sisters! My jar of baby dills are soon going to be dry if I'm not careful! It's almost as bad as being pregnant, this whole craving pickles/pickle juice thing.

I start stage 3 (soft foods/mushies) tomorrow. I have no clue what to eat. The only things I can think of are scrambled egg whites or egg beaters' date=' tuna salad w/very little lite mayo, cottage cheese (already having this), part skim ricotta (just started having this), and soft cheeses. What else can I have? I am craving salt BADLY. I am totally sweets'd out b/c all the shakes are chocolate or vanilla, etc. I want a pickle. Do you think I will be able to have the inside of a pickle (minus the skin)? What else can I eat in this stage? HELP! Thanks![/quote']

Head over to the baby food aisle. You will need to add salt, though.

funny thing, I too ate a pickle too first thing off! I think or believe, when you crave something, your body is telling you that it is missing that nutrient - what nutrient do Dill pickles offer??

I too struggle with what to eat or at least the "variety" part of it.

I am 4 weeks out... what I have stocked in my fridge is this:

Greek Yogurt

String cheese

RF Colby Jack cheese sticks

tuna ( usually mixed with mustart or LF Mayo)

SF Popsicles

eggs (usually scrambled w/cheese and bits of ham)

Protein drinks

unjury chicken Soup

SF Jello

I'm at the point where I'd like something different. Cheese is probably my most FAVORITE thing to eat right now... it's so easy to eat and sits really well in my stomach. BUT I believe this probably isn't the best thing for me to be eating.

I would LOVE suggestions on variety and other things.....

I wish I could eat cheese but it seems to make me sick. eggs also make me sick, two of my favorite things.

eggs also make me sick now. Before surgery, I loved them. I'm kinda sad about it, since it seems like such a staple item, even at 6 or more months out for so many.

I had a really great supper last night.

I sautéed some cut up chicken pieces in seasonings with a very tiny bit of olive oil.

In a bowl I chopped up some baby spinach leaves, 1 pecan, a bit of feta, a small piece of Tomato, a tiny bit of goat cheese, some sweet pear, and a little bit of avocado. I mixed it all together with fat free raspberry vinaigrette. It was SO GOOD!

I know this wasn't asked to me, but I was exactly 4 weeks out yesterday, and I am down 24 lbs.

Went to the doc yesterday for my 4 week post-op f/u appt. I asked about what to eat in stage 3. They said stage 3 is really only about a week and then it becomes trial and error. So she said I can try all soft fruits, soft/steamed veggies, soft cheeses, Beans, oatmeal, moistened ground turkey (like in chili), and a few other things. I'm SO excited about trying new foods. LOL! I think I'm most excited about scrambled eggs, pickles, and chili. :) Hoping at least ONE of those agrees with me! She also said my constant dry mouth and/or feelings of hunger are most definitely due to dehydration. She said the fact that I'm craving salt kinda confirms that. So I REALLY have to push the Water. All in all, it was a good appt.!

I feel the same way - first off' date=' I have no desire to eat. My husband has to remind me to eat. Second, if I cook something, there is so much left over it seems so wasteful. I tend to eat the same stuff over and over. I do get depressed a bit. matter of fact, my husband and friend went out to dinner tonight - I passed because I knew I couldn't sit through watching them eat.....[/quote']

Have you tried cupcake meals? You can freeze them so not so many leftovers and they're the perfect portions :)

Refried pinto beans/mashed black Beans with puréed salsa/cheese/avocado.

Mashed lentils.

I could only eat like 2Tbs at a time to start. Lol.

A little goes a long long way so not a ton of variety with a baby tummy :-) or you end up wasting it. I think that's part of the doldrum stage we go through.

I craved savory things once I got off liquids.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
