Smelling Real Good

Recommended Posts

Guys,

I had a nice NSV the past week or so. I have been wearing my favorite cologne for a while now but all of the sudden women are stopping and saying omg you smell so good, five separate times this week alone. Don't remember that 60 lbs ago. May be my body chemistry is changing with the weight loss. I am seven weeks out. I'll take it.

wow, I hoped you were saying that,

I almost didn't open the post because I feared it told a story of food smells and temptations as such, but its cologne, cool Beans, I'll try to see if I can find it some time and try a whiff, who knows. I like Geo, its pretty good and I like the scent fine enough and has a decent kit of after shave and what have you.

Hate to say it bro,I don't think it's a body chemistry thing as much as I think it's because they find you more attractive as you lose weight & become more confident. They are using the cologne as an excuse to engage you and get closer.

Just my opinion, but it's not a bad thing either.

BTW, Issey Miyaki por homme is my preferred scent.

lol, I guess I am both cheap and don't care right now enough but I have to think that I might after I am post op a while, I'll look into both items if I get there when that is, so want to be recognised.

Agree with OTR, it's all you chad!

To illustrate: I'll never forget at a social event with work people a year or two back when I decided to put on some Gio. A couple girls actually asked me "what's with the cologne?" and one followed up with "who are you trying to impress?" (And it was just a spritz, I didn't overdo it, I promise). When I asked how they thought it smelled, I was given a very lukewarm response.

Not two weeks later, I heard them going on and on about one of the newer guys at work (who, admittedly, was clearly much taller, thinner and better looking than me... but older and MARRIED!), and in particular they liked the way he smelled. I asked point blank, "you mean the way he overdoes the cologne at work?" (it was really over the top), and they were like "oh my god yes!" and "I LOVE the way he smells!" (in that I want to be on him tone, you know what I'm talking about). Anyway, the point was: HE WORE THE EXACT SAME COLOGNE AS ME!

Damn I can't wait to be thin. (Sadly, though, the sleeve won't make me taller...). Anyways, way to go chad, keep it up!

I have to second OTR. Women mostly won't directly speak to a man to tell him she finds him interesting or attractive. Indirect comments like this are probably genuine but happen because they find you overall more approachable. That doesn't mean they are hot to jump in bed, but that they just find you more approachable and attractive.

A few men have told me they find my hair and smile quite lovely now that I have lost nearly 130# - lol. Never got that before so you gotta think it is similar (hair actually does look better thinner after the hair loss!)

Tear it up, Chad!!

Slightly off topic: Took a trip to Vegas for our 14 year anniversary in August. I hadn't bought cologne since our honeymoon; she complains or comments (like, "Who are you wearing that for??") or both if I wore it. At her suggestion and choice, we bought some Creed Aventus. Every time I've worn it since, she complains... like it smells different than it did in the store. I don't think it does, and I don't get it. Thoughts?

Why does this stuff have to be so... unpronounceable.??

I agree with OTR.... I think it's you Chad2Rad... That's a great NSV. I think it's just a clever way way for women to come on to you or show that she interested. Believe me... if she wasnt... you wouldn't get that kind of attention. Congrats on the weight loss!!!

Dude... this is so true!!!! When women really like a guy...you know stereotypical "tall dark and handsome"... he can pretty much smell like dirt... and if he's in shape and lean... they rationalize it with..."I like that rugged look and smell." But if you're overweight... you could be dressed very crisp and smell awesome.... and you just will not get that attention. I blame it on the body image issues society has place on us. But I love this example you brought up. Very true!!!

I know getting positive attention as you become healthier and more fit is great, but does it make you angry or resentful at all? How do you adjust if you are feeling that? I'm still preop (and married) so I won't be shopping or anything but I wonder if suddenly being "good enuff" for attention will bring me down. Thoughts?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
