My Protrusion thingy

Recommended Posts

Here is a pic of my protrusion thingy I keep mentioning that my doc said would go away with more weight loss and the repositioning of my port in relation to that weight loss. I am not so sure that will happen now. Hence the Dr. Billy appointment on next Friday the 9th. I will keep you posted.

Thats exactly where my port is. Mine does'nt sick out quite that much but does look simular. It seem like my port is tilted down a bit. But when I lie down it go's flat. Had no problem with fills.

Do keep us posted.

Vera: When I lie down it goes flat as well. But just as soon as I set up there it is popped up just like you see. It is pretty bothersome and I don't think it should be that way but that is my opinion. What did your doc say was the cause of this protrusion?

Sorry it took me so long to respond, lots of people at the house this weekend. Anyway, I remember the day after my surgery I told Dr. Sanchez that I can feel my port, he's like no way its way to soon and kept insisting I couldn't that it was just some swelling. That was the last time I saw the sweet doc. So back in the states first fill was done under floro, before I was even poked Dr. Lim noted a tilt, but when I laid flat it went flat, not a problem. With weight loss I noticed it more, I haven't seen it as a problem. Didn't have any one to compare to. The other 2 blind fills were a breeze. Dr. McKeen just put a finger at the top and his thumb on the bottom of the port and with the first hit he was in my port.

The one thing Dr. Sanchez said was (and we discussed this prior to surgery) that he chose the AMI swedish band for me because of the excess fat around my stomach and internal organs and that my fat was not next to my skin as much.

Mine does not bother me though, good luck.

I just remembered your going to see Dr. Billy on friday, let me know what he says.

Vera: And everyone else, I will come back and post and let you know what Dr. Billy says after my appt this Friday. It is getting more sore as the days go by.

Not being a student of human physiology, I don't know what all is under that area of skin, but it does seem as though it is easy to get the port in a position that's uncomfortable.

I hate to agree that it's likely your port, and that the likely remedy is a reposition.

Looking forward to hearing Dr. Billy's opinion!!

(All this time I though "Billy" was the doc's first name... lol :D)

I was recently chatting to another banded lady and she said she always thought her port was just under the skin and thought she could feel it, however; when she went for her first fill they couldn't find it because it was way down deep stitched to her stomach muscles. From my understanding I think that is where they stitch all of ours. I too always think I can feel my port just under the skin but it is most likely scar tissue. I have a big tummy so I am pretty sure mine would be deeper too. It does look like Penni's problem is something to do with the port but can't wait to hear what the exact prognosis is. Weirdly enough today I woke up with a bit of pain somewhere around my left ribcage. Not real painful but annoying. Not sure if I slept on my side wrong or perhaps my port hose got repositioned in an odd way or ??? Hurt the worst when I take deep breaths. I don't think it is very serious but if it persists for a day or two I'll have it looked at. Teresa

Just an update to this thread. I saw Dr. Billy and he said the protrusion thingy was part of the tubing and it had bunched up in that area. Sorta like excess tubing of sorts. It needs to be repaired so I am facing another surgery soon.

See "Dr. Billy appointment" in this section to read my take on him as a surgeon.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
