I can't tolerate them but even if I could I don't think I would. My tolerance for anything even remotely sweet is nil and it's only getting worse at one month post-op, not better!

I'm not big on sweet drinks either but I can tolerate the muscle milk light chocolate flavor. I have one often times on work days because it's easy. My surgeon actually frowns on Protein Drink use, preferring his patients get their Protein from real food. I use a don't ask, don't tell approach with him on this. If he asks me, I'll tell him what I do, if he doesn't ask... =)

I'm almost a year out and really need to find more healthy Protein options to get excited about eating. I'm tired of preparing things that leave me with lots of left-overs I often don't eat. Even opening a can of Beans - I eat 1/3 of the can and end up throwing the rest away a few days later...

I'll have to look for the MuscleMilk since you and so many others have recommended it. Like your doctor, mine ultimately prefers all protein comes from food but they said most don't grasp the concept of counting the grams and figuring out the foods, so they allow protein supplements as a way to boost their intake.

Like you, I'm frustrated with what I seem to be wasting. I've cut down on it a bit by purchasing smaller storage containers (4oz) and dividing the remainder of cans of Soup, Beans, etc. and storing them in the refrigerator. The only bad thing is eating those things for x number of meals until they're gone! The other thing I've started to do is buy individual portions of things- cottage cheese, salmon, tuna salad, etc. It's a little more expensive, but I figure they're going to last longer on the shelf than in the refrigerator (if I opened a huge can and stored it!) and the built-in Portion Control is practically priceless!

:)

I can totally feel you , I was sleeved Nov 13 , 2012 and felt exactly the same way ,,, what works better for me is that I bought the whey Protein Powder at GNC , vanilla flavor ( The red one ) and I mix 1/2 banana & 3 strawberries with 6 oz Skim milk and 1 scoop of the powder Protein in the blender, or buy the Frozen berries with pieces of yogurt ( Yoplain ) and Skim milk or Water and the Protein Powder .

If you are stil pre op , check with your doctor but if your post op , you should be okay.
