Big, Deep Sigh....

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

This is my confession. I've been pretty good up until now. Today, I had my first bad food day (what I consider a bad food day) since surgery in July. I had two chicken wings and a slice and a half of pizza for lunch. I then had a normal dinner.

I am getting my second fill next week, and have managed to lose weight, so its not a total disaster, but I've heard confession is good for the soul, so I am purging my guilt and will go forward tomorrow with the intent of doing better from now on.

Thanks for the support.

Robin, we all have been there and done that. It's 1 or 2 meals and you are back on track. That's the great thing about the band, you can always get right back to the basics.

Usually, when I've been good for so long and take a day off, I usually lose weight. I think the body is trying to tell us something. Continue strong!

....last lab..... 6.4!!!

No insulin for SIX MONTHS:omg: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

Nearly No insulin since last thanksgiving!!!! :) :) :)

So.....

I don't need no stinkin' pizza....

I got off of insulin the day of surgery.....Feb 28. My last A1c was 6.0

Isn't the BAND wonderful? I feel like it was worth it just for the improvement in health and the weight loss is a PLUS (or negative..teehee)

I eat pizza and hot wings all the time, whenever the mood strikes! I got my band to enjoy small portions of delicious food and have been doing so for eight months to the tune of nearly 60 pounds lost! Calories in, calories out. And no, I do not have a "fast metabolism" and I'm no different from anyone else. It's a myth that bandsters should stick only to healthy foods 24/7. The French sure don't and they're all thin! (of course they do exercise alot too but they eat pastry, cheese, and cream sauces almost every day!)

Tomorrow is a new day Robin, that is the great thing about the band, even though you think you ate alot, really it is now where what you ate pre band. Dont sweat the small stuff we all have or have had days like that and are still here losing the weight. Again, tomorrow is a new day get back on that "band" wagon!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
