Well, Well, I Really Do Have A Band, HICCUPS

Recommended Posts

I have been wondering if my band was there at all. I'm waiting on my first fill. Tonight I ate pretzels for the first time. I wasn't supposed to, but I did. Now I have the hiccups. I have heard the hiccups are a common occurrence with the band, so I guess I really am banded, huh! What causes the hiccups and why would pretzels bring them on? Is it the pretzels trying to pass through the stoma? Maybe I do have some type of restriction afterall. Thanks!

I ate a snack package last night- NO MORE. I had a golf ball feel and I chewed those to mush!!! Even added a 1/2 straw of Water to liquify. They are now on my will not eat list.

I have hiccups off and on since banding. They increase with air, not drinking slow enough, and with a full meal.

A snack package of what? I get the golfball feeling in my back, I guess right behind my band. Does anyone else get a pain in there back instead of the stomach. Maybe my stomach is more towards my back-LOL. Who knows. I have never had the hiccups until tonight since being banded. I knew I shouldn't have eaten those pretzels, but I guess I was testing the band. Now I know. The hiccups are gone now, so it didn't last too long, but I still have the golfball feeling in my back, like near my ribs.

snack package of pretzels. and yes i do get the golf ball in my back on the right side of my spine. I thought that was my gallbladder since it is usually a fwe hours after eating. The golf ball in my chest is usually from not chewing well enough.

Hi guys I just started with the golf ball pain this week. Doesn't matter where that ball is .....it's a killer.:faint: Hiccups is a stop warning to me ASAP.....For me, I start to PB if I continue eating.

I'm feeling better after 2 horrible days of PBing. I drink a little with meals....I don't notice any difference in eating more or less...I hope I still lose........

feel good all

I have no problem eating pretzels, so long as I remember to chew them to mush. For me, a hiccough is my sign to stop eating. If I continue, then I will probably end up with a pb.

I get a pain in my left shoulder or rib cage. That is my signal to stop eating that I'm full. Sometimes it also means gas. You get this a lot after surgery for a month or two. Some say is referal pain from the diaphram.

Hiccups for me mean I'm in trouble. I sometimes PB with them, but usually I just endure them and belch a few times and they go away. I get them after a fill when I'm too tight.

I eat pretzels as my snack food and haven't had any trouble. However, don't drink anything when you are experiencing hiccups or belching or gurgling. This usually leads to worse symptoms. :D

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
