After being filled, how much do you lose per month on average?

Recommended Posts

I'm curious how much weight you all lose on a monthly basis. I think I've been losing about 5 or 6 pounds per month myself...and I'm curious if this is typical or slow or fast or what.

I do about 4 or 5 a month. But that's with minimal exercise. My arthritis is bad and although it is getting easier to get around with it, exercise is still painful.

According to most surgeons, and Inamed, ideally you should lose between 1-2 pounds per week with the band. With that being said, I am averaging about 1.5 per week and very happy with that.

I'm so glad somebody made this post. I was really beginning to get discouraged with my slow weight loss. I see so many people on here who have lost over 75-100 lbs and I wonder if I will ever get there!!

I've averaged 1.7 pounds per week since my surgery. That's an average and I certainly don't lose every week, but I just calculated it today and am happy with that rate of loss. If I continue that rate of loss I will lose 88.4 pounds by February.

I calculated mine, I'm at about 1.3 per week. I haven't been exercising at all...maybe if I start exercising I can speed up the process a bit.

At the moment, nothing, lol. I tend to get a fill, have a little run of good weight loss and then peter out again. My doc worked out I've averaged 4lb per month, which is about what they expect.

I need another fill though. I've had a little burst of weight loss about 3 or 4 weeks back and completely lost my restriction all of a sudden. It tends to happen that way for me.

I will be going in for my 2nd fill, no restriction as of yet. I average 1 lb per week and hope that changes on my next fill.

Don't believe the hype.

There is no average.

Every patient is different. 100 people could give you 100 answers, and none may not apply to you.

How much you lose can be affected by your starting weight, metabolism, caloric intake, activity level, medical history, hormones and other factors.

So why make yourself crazy? Just concentrate on losing at your own pace.

Good Luck.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
