sleeved080212 46 Posted November 27, 2012 So sorry for such a TMI post, but I've noticed lately that mine is very light in color, certainly not brown like it used to be. It's also very thin. I am almost 4 months out, lost 40 lbs, have 20 more to go. I've Googled "color of poop" and basically everything I've found is either bile duct obstruction or colon cancer. Well, I tend to think that it's neither since I am a WLS patient. Any thoughts?
Marisa46 7 Posted November 27, 2012 I had a similar problem although mine developed earlier after the surgery. It turns out that I'm lactose intolerant and the color (mine was yellow and occasionally orange) was the result of malabsorption. I take lactaid when ever I have yoghurt, cottage cheese, etc. and I switched to lactose free milk. Problem went away. If you have had your follow up blood work done and everything else is normal you might try stopping milk products to see if it helps. It also may help to wait a little longer before having liquids after meals. 1 sleeved080212 reacted to this
lizv123 389 Posted November 27, 2012 It's because digestion is taking place lower in your system. It DOES have to do with bile production but only because our stomachs are so much smaller and food passes into our intestines faster. You should be just fine. But if it really freaks you out, all your doc 1 sleeved080212 reacted to this
