SoonToBeThinKAT 67 Posted November 27, 2012 I am almost 2 1/2 months out and still eat a very small amount of food. I have seen others that in personally know who were able to eat a lot more. I eat about 5-6x a day. To give you an example for Breakfast I can eat 1/2 Greek yogurt and then I'm full.
lollyfidy1965 402 Posted November 27, 2012 Im 5 months post-op, and am able to eat about 2 oz of "dense" Protein (think chicken, turkey, salmon, etc). I'm able to eat 1/4 cup of tuna salad, along with 1/4 cup of cottage cheese, or 1 string cheese. I have 8 oz of muscle milk light every morning before I hit the gym, and another 8 oz after the gym. (that's roughly 7am and 10am). I eat lunch between 12 and 1pm (the tuna salad/cottage cheese combo is typical), have a small "snack" around 3pm (usually a low-fat, 1oz cheese stick), have dinner between 5:30 and 6pm (usually 2 oz of chicken, cooked a variety of ways), and finish the day with a snack around 8pm (almost always a Quest chocolate brownie protein bar). I average between 650 and 700 calories/day, with roughly 90 grams of protein, and fewer than 30 grams of carbs. 3 Peazwithin, Strangefruit and kmwheel reacted to this
iegal 460 Posted November 27, 2012 Everyone is different. At 2 1/2 months I was eating small amounts like you. But I supplemented with Protein shakes to ensure I was getting in my Protein. Are you tracking your nutrients? I don't think I was eating "normal" until almost 7 months. It was like a light bulb as if I never had surgery, where I didn't watch every single bite nor monitor my nutrients like a hawk. Now, I probably eat a little over a cup. I still feel restriction but I can cheat...don't try this. Stay the course and keep on track. The weight will come off and you will learn your own limits, as this is a journey. Hugs. Banned member 320 Posted November 27, 2012 I can eat 1 chicken wing and I think that's about 2 oz and I'm almost 2 months out. I can eat 1 whole egg also.
sramos89 260 Posted November 27, 2012 I am about 2.5 months out and about the same, the dense Protein really knocks me out quick, not even 1/4 cup. I can't finish 1 egg either but I can do 1 cup of Cereal, potatos, etc.. The stuff I shouldn't be eating is no problem...? 1 kmwheel reacted to this
bd0982 13 Posted November 27, 2012 I am having a lot of trouble eating. I am almost 6 months out and eat almost nothing during the day. I feel as if I could just not eat and be content. I know this is not good and the Protein is hard for me to get down also. I'm really trying to learn to eat again but I just don't ever want food. I am hopeful it gets better soon. Fiddleman 4,376 Posted November 27, 2012 At 5 months, still eat about 600-900 calories a day by eating small meals of roughly 125 calories 6 x a day. Just a rough estimate as I don't make a conscious effort to track calories. I focus mainly on getting 3-4 ounces of. Good Protein and thrive for 125 grams a day. I sometimes eat vegetables if there is room and keep up nutrition needs with various supplements. Loss has been fairly good with the eating plan and does not require much exercise ( goal is 45 minutes to 1 hour a day). Sometimes I miss a day of exercise if I get too busy. 1 kmwheel reacted to this

What I've learned is that eating isn't about "wanting food" anymore. Its about needing to get my nutrients (mostly Protein, at this point). I eat because I HAVE to...not because I WANT to. Its like taking medicine....even when I don't want to do it...even when it tastes like crap (like the liquid Zantac I take twice a day!)...I "take" it....because its good for me. Taking that approach has enabled me to get my protein every day, and to drink Water, even when I didn't think I would be able to take another sip. 2 doxieville and Fiddleman reacted to this
Fiddleman 4,376 Posted November 27, 2012 Hey did you ever find out what that pain was that you were having?? Thanks for asking. No pain at this time. I have come to think that any discomfort I get around middle section is a sign of irregularity. That usually clears up in a day or two after some daily use of Miralax. The pain I had on my head a while back (September?) was a staph infection. Very unusual. I still do not know how I got it or why I got it, but it cleared up after 3 weeks of antibiotics. First time it has happened to me and was pretty painful to say the least. At least it was not shingles. That was my first thought when trying self diagnose before seeing the doctor.
