Need to get my but back in gear.

Recommended Posts

I got my band in August 05 and had lost 70lbs but in the last few months I've lost my drive and have gained about 10lbs back and just cant get it through my thick head that I need to watch it. I know I'm eating the wrong things but I just cant help myself. I have the vanguard band with a total of 9.5cc I think I have ok restrition but I just keep eating to the point of being stuffed but I dont PB (maybe if Idid I would stop). Can you give me some suggestion on how to control my diet. I think I need to have a rigid template to follow. Thanks for letting me vent.

I have had a few disastrous weeks myself. I think for me, I have to go back to eating proper meals, I've been picking and of course when you pick, you can eat a lot. So this morning, I"m having a big Breakfast, which is a proper Breakfast. I might have Cereal and fruit AND then have yogurt. I know if I eat that lot, its a good healthy balanced meal but it will keep me stuffed for hours. Once I break a cycle I'm pretty right.

That's what I'd suggest. Eat well at meals, dont try to eat too little, and make sure you have enough in your tummy to get by on so you dont pick.

I think I'd get a fill if I were in your shoes. It doesn't have to be forever if it winds up cutting out foods that you want to have in your diet longterm, but it will make you focus on food andd weight loss again. Take advantage of the adjustibility of your band, particularly since your head hunger seems to have come back.

Good luck.

Make sure that you are properly restricted. If you can truly stuff yourself without PBing, then I'd be questioning your restriction.

Congrats. on your weight loss.

Whew, I'm not alone! I was having the same problems of being able to eat the wrong foods, and I fell off my regimen diet. I just went to Mexico to get a fill and I told them I wanted a good restricted fill. So today, I've only been able to eat the portions that I was eating when I lost most of my weight. I know the things that I absolutely cannot eat, and those are mostly the "bad" foods, which always make me PB when I am restricted. By having good restricition, it makes me mentally make the right decisions with my food. I especially wanted the restriction with the holidays coming up!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
