That's what I am hoping for. I really want to get off the meds. My surgeon thinks that I should be able to ditch them all (diabetes, high blood and cholestrol) within the next year. It was the main reason that I opted for the surgery.

My A1C came back dead normal (5.4) and my blood sugar was normal at the 6 month checkup. My PCP will never say it's been "resolved." He calls it "controlled." I disagree and so does the surgeon. My BP is 120/70 when I last checked a few months ago.

My cholesterol is still sky high. It runs in my family. My mom is on statins and they don't work at all. I've read that statins are worse than having high cholesterol and simply having high cholesterol alone does NOT increase risk for stroke or heart disease.

I don't even like taking Tylenol. I don't trust drugs because doctors do not truly know all the side effects. The known ones are bad enough.

High cholesterol isn't the killer at all - it's the oxidation from eating the bad foods - carbs, oils that aren't naturally derived (i.e. Canola, Corn, Cottonseed, etc) it's actually been proven that high cholesterol as you get older can actually help you live longer.

You and I have been reading the same things. I now only eat olive and coconut oil. I've heard margarine and canola oil compared to synthetic motor oil.

I also stay away from high processed foods. Hopefully I can repair at least some of the damage done or do little more damage.
