Weight History Cigna

Recommended Posts

I'm right on the BMI line for the sugery, and I know I have to have a 2 year weight history submitted, does anyone know if it has to be a full 24 months, or say one weight that meets in 2012 and another in 2013. Or would I have to have the weight all of 2012, all of 2013 and then try for sugery in 2014? I hope my question makes sense.

I have BCBS Federal and they required a 2 year weight history as well except I was rarely sick so I didnt have 2 full years. I had data from 2008 and data from 2011. I wasnt as heavy in that data, but still obese and they had no problem accepting the data with a gap in it. I dont know how Cigna works but that was the one thing that I was most worried about when my information was submitted for approval.

Good luck to you.

I got a hold of my sugeron's office and the insurance person said she was pretty sure one from 2012 and one from 2013 would work.....I'm nervous to go through the 3 month diet and all the testing and then get denied....

I completely understand. I went thru a 3 month diet as well as the other testing. The insurance coordinators have seen hundreds if not thousands of cases and can pretty much tell when something is going to get approved or not. If she is pretty sure then thats a good sign.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
