33 Year Old Males Story

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone i have posted on here before. I had the sleeve march 22 2012, so its been roughly 8 months. My starting weight was 350 im right around 230 ish now. I went from a 46 inch waist to 34 inch. I eat what i want now and do not crave many bad foods as i did before. And if i do it is much easier to say no. Anyway it has been awsum, and am super happy with it.

I started out walking then jogging a quarter mile working my way to 3 miles, i made sure i took the stairs most of the time, and parked at the far end of all parking lots. On my breaks i would just try to make up things to walk for such as leave things in my car i l knew i would need then walk and get them. Ive been lazy latley but my workout routine example would be now 2 mile jog at 6mph then 30 mins of weight training, then 15 mins on bike or elyptical, then on a good day a half mile swim

Thanks everyone it feels good to show off, and hopefully excite someone checking out the forum thinking of getting sleeve, i know i spent alot of time creeping around here. This has been the easiest way to lose weight ever its the cure to obesity i beleive. Anyway my doc was dr alan sabre i beleive he is in new york now he was at university hospitals in cleveland. He pioneered a single incision technique so if u can look him up, he is amazing.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
