Scared Off And On....help

Recommended Posts

I am scheduled for pre-op on December 5. I have been waiting on this time to come, but now I'm having all these what if thoughts. Like what if something happens to me during surgery or the outcome isn't good...have anyone else experienced these scary thoughts. Could someone tell me how long it took after pre-op to have the surgery done.

I'm having surgery tomorrow at 9:30 am. So yeah......... I'm freakin out quite a bit. I'm trying to drink this whole bottle of magnesium citrate and its making me so nauseous. Ugh. Good luck with your surgery. :)

I got approved end of October and was scheduled about a week after that. My surgery was for end of November.

You need to stick to that confidence you had just prior to now, even just initiate to clear your mind of bad thoughts.

I can only suggest that you might try to do something to get your mind of the surgery for a while, watch a funny movie ot tv shows and get some laughs, let yourself feel better, hold hands or deep breathing, try what it is thats like meditation for you to relax or maybe go to a mirror and tell yourself its all going to be OK and some thoughts you have and correct them. Once done at the hospital maybe it should just be that soon after you'll not look back at this and it won't be so big any more in your thoughts to be afraid, should be inevidable then. Get some or any good sleep if you can too.

Think possitive, get rid of negatives breath it in.

I hope thats something

One week before my surgery date, after all that work to get a surgery date I said "no, I am not going to do this, I don't care if I told people, I am just not going to do it.". I happened to be on my way to my acupuncturist, we did my regular appointment and offered my healing session to the good of the universe (hope that doesn't go too far against your beliefs but it is part of the story). So right then my head became crystal clear and said just go forward. After that, during the next week I just gave it up, knew I would do it.

I am 3 months out, 55 pounds less and am happy I did this. I still have my goal to lose 120 and I just eat what I am suppose to. No chips, sweets and pretty much everything is a go but I only do about a 1/2 cup. Yesterday I went out for lunch, got 2 fish tacos (the entree), asked for one in a to go box, ate at the other one slowly, ate about 1/2 of the inside & then I knew to stop.

I have to exercise to keep the weight falling off, I am not perfect but it is still working.

I hope you go for it, a lot of people say they are proud of me, I don't quite get it but they tell me it is cause I had the courage to go forward and tackle my "problem". I hurt in my feet, legs and could not do some sports I want to do.

Some people don't need to lose excess pounds cause they don't feel unhappy, depressed and addicted to food. I DID and the surgery has relieved most of the addicted feeling cause I really can't eat more than the 1/2 cup. If I had not had this surgery I felt so happy 45 lb.'s lighter I would have said "yep, this is good enough, let's go have pizza.". Now I can't stop cause of the portion thing.

GOOD LUCK

It's the rare person who isn't worried as the time gets close. I reminded myself of the reasons for having the surgery: health and length and quality of life. That put it all into perspective again and, realizing I had no good alternative, I lost my fear.

I am having surgery in two weeks and the preop diet is tomorrow. I have been watching those youtube videos to get a picture of before and after and I think I was psyching myself out. I think that starting the preop is making me realize that this is real and that this is my last chance to turn around but I am going to push forward. I look in the mirror and it gives me a reality check to keep going. Ultimately, I am the only one that make this decision and I trust myself to make the right one. I have five kids so I worry about making the right decision and I worried about not making it but I have to say that what will be what be. I believe that God is on my side so everything will be alright.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
