Hairloss After Operation?

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone! I am 4 months post op and 40 kilos down :) I have noticed that for about a month now my hair has been falling out excessively, literally, hand fulls and hand fulls. I am 20 years old and I feel like by 25 I may possibly be bald :/ is this normal? Has anyone had this happen? Does it stop?

This is normal if you are not getting enough Protein in your diet. You need to make sure you are getting at least 70g of protein per day. I was also told to take Biotin to help with this problem. My doctors assistant actually said to me that she didn't want to hear from me if my hair was falling out because it just means you're not getting enough protein.

It is normal regardless of how much Protein you take in. I was taking in over 100 grams and my hair is still falling out. Contrary to what the previous poster's doctor assistant said, mine said it is so commonplace in all patients it seems to be unavoidable!

Guess it's just a difference of opinions in the medical community.

But I thought because I am so hairy all over with a head of really thick hair that if I ate enough Protein I could avoid Hair loss. Not.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
