Beaversla 10 Posted November 25, 2012 My doctor said no gum, is there any big reason for that? I really miss chewing gum!
amwr6582 26 Posted November 25, 2012 It puts air into your stomach which can stretch it out. Equate it to soda. 1 angeliiz80 reacted to this
*susan* 1,709 Posted November 25, 2012 Hmmm, interesting. I would definitely follow what your doctor suggests. But, at three years out, I chew gum and drink diet soda and my tummy hasn't stretched at all. Sent from my iPad using VST
RareGold3000 185 Posted November 25, 2012 I've chewed gum since 4 weeks out, no problems here. My surgeon just said to wait a few weeks after surgery.

Beaversla one of my first meeting w/NUT - she told me not to chew gum?? it happens that i'm not a "gum chewer" but i was surprised at her initiating this subject she told me if i were to swallow the gum - i could be in trouble , and something surgically might have to be done???? oh wellll..???? Supersweetums 1,164 Posted November 25, 2012 In the beginning there are concerns over swallowing it. But also the air can cause upset stomach. I know I had never thought of it, and about a month post op I popped some gum in, and my stomach started to hurt, so I spit it out. Now I can chew it no problems!
