I have struggled with the band for almost a year without much luck!

I have a couple of question I hope you guys can help me with...

1)I hurt when I eat until I burp and then I feel better. Especially if liquid is involved...anyone else experience this? Any thoughts?

2)What happens when you drink carbonation (like diet 7-up)? I have been told that is a huge no-no but if burping helps wouldn't the drink help with better burps?

Please guys, I need help to make this a success!

Thanks!

Are you drinking with your meals? That's something I was told to avoid.

I haven't done carbonation, there is a theory that it can stretch your pouch, and it's not worth the risk.

I think you need to figure out why you burp when you eat, not how to burp better if that makes any sense.

When I eat too much, or too fast ( Dr.'s say you swallow more air when you eat fast or eat liquids like soup) I hurt until I burp, that might be whats happing to you. Carbonation can overfill you pouch and cause discomfort or some Dr's think it can lead to slippage. If you really, really need to burp try the gas drops they sell for babies, but be forwarned, I can tell you they can make you fart too.

Good Luck!

I was told no soda. Not even flattened some. Causes issues... plus cola is so bad anyway... but d*&$ it It DOES taste so good with bourbon.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
