Insanity Anyone?

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if anyone has tried p90x or insanity after the sleeve and had success. I am 2 weeks out and am contemplating trying this after the first of the year once my healing is over.

Eventually I want to try insanity. You have to be in pretty good shape already if you want to do it properly. I'm a ways away but eventually will try it.

I look forward to the day when I need a workout titled "insanity" to push me to my limits.... Right now I'm pushed to my limits doing "Sweatin' to the Oldies" heck forget that, I'm pushed to my limits climbing four flights of stairs!

I bought insanity ( during my many diets pre sleeve) and was all pumped up to do it. I did their initial "fitness test" on the first DVD to start and during the "globe Jump" portion of the test ( this is basically jumping as high and far as you can in a square while pulling your knees up to your chest" I heard a crunch and felt horrible pain on my knee. Seriously couldn't walk for a week after that . Needless to say, Haven't done it since.

It certainly is an insane workout-don't just jump right in to it or you will hurt yourself. Build up your cardiovascular endurance and strength for a few months before attempting this. This is what I am currently doing. I think when I lose about 15 more lbs I will attempt it again. Remember For just walking , every pound that you weigh is 4 lbs of pressure on your joints. Insanity is a very high impact workout so I am sure it is much higher for it ... Ouch!

Good Luck! You will get there!

The Tony Horton, Beachbody has a wide variety of exercise DVDs. I have a 30 min stretch one that for me is aerobic activity. Years ago when I was more fit, I loved the P90. Depending on your fitness level, they have a DVD.

I did about 6 weeks of insanity and because of cartilage breakdown in my knees and back from the army it proved too much impact for me...there is a lot of jumping and my joints couldn't handle it even though it was working everywhere else. If u don't have joint issues I say go for it cuz u can get amazing results just make sure to ease into it because it is super intense and going all.out will be too much even if u r already in decent shape. You can always do an extra week at the end if u feel like u have lost anything while really focusing on good form in the.first week and endurance

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
