Nicolanz 1,484 Posted November 24, 2012 One of my incisions has opened! It's not oozing or anything but it's a hole. Should I leave it alone? If I use steri strips now will it trap in bacteria? I've been sleeved for three weeks and it was closed covered by a scab. It just opened a few days ago.
TheGamer 406 Posted November 24, 2012 I had the glue-type stuff over my incisions. They scabbed over and the scabs came off in bits and pieces. I think as long as it's not oozing then it's probably safe and healing, especially 3 weeks out.
JustSkinnyMeInside 89 Posted November 24, 2012 You dont want to use steristrips now because it needs to be cleaned well first. If there is a hole, depending how deep, thats going to make an ugly scar if its deep. If it is dry and no redness or drainage then its ok, no infection. Also, if its been healing now for 3 weeks, im not sure it will even heal closed. You can always call your surgeons office on Monday morning and ask them if you can come in so they can maybe put dermabond or steristrips??? Like i said, without seeing how much it has healed, its hard to say. Is it a deep hole?
pedsnurse120304 19 Posted November 24, 2012 If the surgical site is not red, oozing or have a bad odor it sounds ok. Steri strips usually stay on for 7-10 days. Just let MD know if you develop any signs of infection.
t.ski 61 Posted November 24, 2012 My large incision did the same thing at about the same time. I will be 4 months post op tomorrow and it is still not healed (i would say its about 1/2 way healed). At my 2 month appointment the doctor was not concerned about it.
Nicolanz 1,484 Posted November 24, 2012 It's not deep just open and its freaking me out! No sign of infection.
Robyn Owens-Miille 132 Posted November 24, 2012 Keep it clean, keep it loosely covered and it will heal. As long as no oozing, redness or drainage, you're fine. Our skin is stretched and doesn't have the greatest elasticity any more. At 3 weeks out, you are well healed from the inside and this is just a surface incision. One of mine did the same thing.
